Yesterday, Mike and I had to go into Guatemala City for several things, car insurance office, Immigration office, and of course, PriceSmart and Hiper Paiz. As we finished at the Immigration Office, they said that we could come back later in the day and pick up our passports. We are at the 90 day mark and needed to get them stamped. So we decided to SPEND the entire day in the city. It didn't take long and we had packed in a lot of stuff. So about 3:00 p.m. we headed back to the Immigration Office to pick up the passports. It was also about to pour down rain (we are in the rainy season a little earlier than expected), Mike was going to get wet getting back in the van. We left the city about 3:30 p.m. and on the way home we decided to take a different route, probably not the best decision we made. So we took the San Juan road and thought it would bring us to the main road going out of the city. Well......there was one last left turn that we didn't take and ended up over several ridges on the way to "no where". We had to stop for gas and the gentleman informed us, "you better just turn around and go back the way you came. The road gets worse from here." This little venture took 2 hours and now we are going back another 2 hours to the left turn that we should have made to get on the main road. Moral of this story.....have maps!!!! But all in all, the drive was beautiful!!! Once again, God showing us His handiwork!!!! (The red line is where we went and the green line is where we wanted to go back to Antigua)
