Medio Maraton Las Rosas (13.1 Miles)
Antigua, Guatemala

Central Park
This half marathon was a little more difficult than the last one that I did 6 weeks ago in Coban. The route took us through several little pueblos, San Felipe, Jocotenango, Ciudad Vieja, San Pedro, Santa Anna. This route also consisted of cobblestone roads, smooth pavement, broken pavement, dirt/mud with rocks, not great for your feet and ankles. We also had to contend with all of the traffic. The authorities didn't seem it necessary to block the roads, so we had the chicken buses, took-tooks and cars. At one point, the traffic was in such a hurry that they were not even paying attention to the police officer directing traffic for all the runners and just about ran him over. Even with this terrain, I was able to break my time from Coban from 2:35 to 2:21.
It was a great day! This day is also our one year anniversary moving to Guatemala from Clearwater/Largo Florida. What way to spend it.....running the Panchoy Valley!(I am pointing up and not making a bad jesture.)
