Today was the day of the 10K in Antigua!!! Starting out with the lack of sleep from excitement of getting up at 5:30 am to prepare to be a participant and pick up my packet (free" t-shirt). I wanted that free t-shirt!! When they asked me what size I wanted I said medium please.....they gave me an x-large. Go Figure!!
The race started with the playing of the Guatemalan National Anthem, which is about 10 minutes long. After the song, confetti was shooting for everywhere and the race had begun!! About 2,000 runners passed through the streets of Antigua "gracefully" over the cobblestones. In the midst of the runners, the Antigua Ambulance was driving down the
road, hopefully not in hopes of someone falling or passing out, but it was comforting to know that they were there if we needed assistance.
This is my friend, Tami. She and I were the only two from the Iglesia del Camino Group. We had a great time together, we bonded as sisters.
At the finish line in front of Central Park of Antigua.
Needless to say, I need to relax more, I look pretty stiff!!! And yes, I was on a mission.....to actually finish without twisting my ankles!
Needless to say, I need to relax more, I look pretty stiff!!! And yes, I was on a mission.....to actually finish without twisting my ankles!I still finished in 1:08:30 and according to the Garmin Tami was wearing, it measured to be 6.59 miles rather than normal 6 miles (10 kilometers).
